Engineered Hardwood
Delivers the look and feel of solid hardwood floors but with added durability.
Unlike solid hardwood floors, engineered hardwood floors consist of 7-layers of plywood and 2- layers of wood on the top. These properties are what makes this type of flooring more resistant to humidity, which minimizes the amount of expansion.
Although engineered hardwood is more water resistant than solid hardwood, it is not waterproof. To help prevent water damage, our engineered hardwoods have waxed edges to keep water from seeping through the seams. The waxed edges are also beneficial in preventing the floor planks from squeaking.
Key Highlights:
Some of the most popular finishes include oak, maple, and cherry. Each type of wood has its own unique grain pattern and colour. If a renovation project demands for a more unique look, we can help you source styles with inlays or embossed designs. No matter what your client’s unique needs are, there’s an engineered hardwood floor that’s perfect for their preferences.
Engineered hardwood floors have a plywood sublayer that provides stability and makes the flooring less likely to warp or cup over time. Engineered hardwood floors can be installed as a floating floor, which means that they can be laid over an existing surface without being nailed or glued down. This makes installation a much simpler and quicker process for renovation specialists. Plus, it offers flexibility for property owners as it can actually be sanded down and refinished instead of a complete flooring overhaul.
